What is youMashTube?

With over 118 million videos and mashes, youMashTube is the world's biggest video editor.

Our mission is to make watching, editing, saving, and sharing movies accessible to a mass audience. The youMashTube difference is simple: You don't need your own videos, you don't need to download/install anything, you don't even need to register for an account.

Just compare youMashTube with traditional video editors:

Traditional video editors

  • No content available
  • Requires purchase & download
  • No way to easily share your completed movies
  • Requires knowledge of complicated terms
  • Creates big files that you need to burn to DVD

youMashTube

  • 118 million searchable videos- just about anything you want to watch!
  • No downloads or purchase required
  • Saves your movies as a webpage with a title and description. Also provides links to add your movies to facebook, myspace, and more!
  • No complex lingo
  • No big files- you can stream your video instantly into any web browser!

youMashTube was designed, developed, and deployed by Colingo Labs LLC, a premier San Francisco-based web development firm.

What is a mash?

When you put videos in your playlist and hit save, you've created a mash.

A mash consists of:
- 1 or more video(s)
- A title
- Statistics ( Number of videos, total length of mash, and page-views)
- A description (optional)
- Commnents (optional)

Each mash has its own webpage. You can go back to this mash at anytime by bookmarking it either in your browser or clicking the links for FaceBook, MySpace, etc...

How much does youMashTube cost to use?

Absolutely nothing. youMashTube is 100% free.

How is youMashTube connected with YouTube?

youMashTube has no official connection with YouTube. We simply make use of their generous API (Application Programming Interface) to bring you a ton of high-quality content.

What do you mean, "the world's biggest video editor?!"

Well, simple: We provide more videos built-in to our video editor than anyone else out there. Wayyyy more videos.

I want more advanced video-editing features.

Yes...and we can't wait to give them to you. Stay tuned :)

Ohh- I have an idea for you!

Awesome! We'd love to hear it. Send us your ideas here!

The video doesn't start where I told it to!

We're aware of this problem. Unfortunately, it is due to a problem with the way YouTube compresses their videos. Currently, you can only seek to certain points ("keyframes") of the videos. To keep the movies lightweight, YouTube minimizes the number of keyframes in each video. For most videos there are keyframes every two seconds but for some older videos you can go over 10 seconds without keyframes, which limits the accuracy of our 'snipping' tools. YouTube is aware of the problem. Working with YouTube, we hope to have this issue resolved within a few months.

Sometimes the player gets stuck and doesn't go on to the next video.

This is another problem with YouTube, although neither us nor them currently knows why. A ticket has been filed to investigate and fix this. If this happens to you, please submit a bug and tell us the title of the video it happened on.

The progress-bar doesn't work on some videos.

See the previous issue...

Fullscreen doesn't work.

Fullscreen currently does not work on Safari, due to a limitation with Safari's flash implementation. We're working to address this.

All I see is a grey box!

Are you using Linux? Unfortunately, the Flash player available for Linux is full of problems. We've spent a lot of time working around them ( You won't find many other sites that let you drag HTML on top on Linux ) but unfortunately some of the issues are beyond our reach.
We're not alone with this- even Google doesn't support Flash on Linux: "A note for Linux users: The Flash implementation for Linux can be very problematic, and users of Debian and Ubuntu seem to be especially affected. We're aware of these issues, but due to the lack of updates and Flash plugin development for Linux, we may be unable to support your browser and operating system combination at this time."

If you're not using Linux and see a grey box, please add a bug and tell us what happened.

Long mashes take a long time to load.

Yes, they can be slow, especially on Internet Explorer 6. Try using the latest version of Mozilla Firefox for optimal perfornance. We strongly encourage users to limit their mashes to no more than 200 videos.

I'm having other problems.

Please add a bug and tell us what happened.

I'm a copyright holder and I want my content to be removed from youMashTube.

We do not store or stream videos. You'll need to refer to YouTube's DMCA policy to have content removed. When a movie is removed from YouTube, it will no longer appear on youMashTube. The reference may persist in the form of a playlist item, but the item will no longer play. Please contact us if you need us to remove a playlist item.
